Smoking in the Movies

“The number of U.S. movies showing people smoking has declined since 2005, but cigarettes still feature in far too many films and could be influencing young people to take up the habit, according to a report released on Thursday” by the CDC. For more information, click here.

Hidden in Plain Sight

It should also be noted that prior to the event the Georgia Family Connection partnership was officially awarded $50000 by Walmart to help aid the community through education.  Walmart Senior Manager of Government and Public Affairs briefly explains why the company chose GAFCP.

Gainesville Teens Tackling Underage Drinking

Two of our student members, Taylor Hall and Stefanie Darby, attended the National Youth Leadership Initiative conference this week in Phoenix, AZ.  While there, they learned how to assess local substance abuse problems and develop various plans in response.
